National studies show that students in higher education are highly vulnerable to food 和 housing insecurity. We know this is the case at DU, as well. 

Fall Quarter 2024 Update:

The 食物 Pantry is undergoing a transition from the Center for a Regenerative Future to Student Affairs 和 Inclusive Excellence. Updates will be provided about the 食物 Pantry's operation during Week 1 of Fall Quarter.

The 食物 Pantry is entirely funded through monetary donations. If you would like to support the Pantry monetarily, please use this link (igfn.我们/形式/ YOrT9A) or text SUSTAINDU to 41444. Any money donated this way goes directly to purchasing food for patrons 和 paying the salaries of the dedicated student staff who make the 食物 Pantry possible. 

What is 食物 Insecurity?

给美国 defines 食品不安全 as "a household’s inability to provide enough food for every person to live an active, healthy life." It is important to know that though hunger 和 食品不安全 are closely related, they are distinct concepts. 饥饿 refers to a personal, physical sensation of discomfort, while 食品不安全 refers to a lack of available financial resources for food at the household level. Right now, one in nine Americans are considered to be food insecure.

The 食物 Pantry is supported entirely by food 和 monetary donations by departments 和 individuals in the DU community. We are endlessly grateful for the support that we have received 和 will continue to receive from the DU community. 

  • 食品驱动器: Every year, dozens of groups on campus come together to collect boxes of food for the Pantry. If you would like to run a food drive for your department, club, team, class or organization, email foodpantry@yimlady.com for signage 和 instructions. 

  • Individual 捐款: If you would like to donate food to the pantry as an individual, simply stop by the Center for 可持续性 during business hours.

  • 捐款: When food donations are not enough for our regular operations, we supplement with store-bought food paid for by generous monetary donations from our partners 和 friends around campus; Sodexo 和 Aramark have been exceptionally generous donors!
